An Explicit Large Versus Small Field Multiscale Cluster Expansion

چکیده

We introduce a new type of cluster expansion which generalizes a previous formula of Brydges and Kennedy. The method is especially suited for performing a phase-space multiscale expansion in a just renormalizable theory, and allows the writing of explicit non-perturbative formulas for the Schwinger functions. The procedure is quite model independent, but for simplicity we chose the infrared φ 4 model as a testing ground. We used also a large field versus small field expansion. The polymer amplitudes, corresponding to graphs without almost local two and for point functions, are shown to satisfy the polymer bound.

Dynamics of Macro–Nano Mechanical Systems; Fixed Interfacial Multiscale Method

The continuum based approaches don’t provide the correct physics in atomic scales. On the other hand, the molecular based approaches are limited by the length and simulated process time. As an attractive alternative, this paper proposes the Fixed Interfacial Multiscale Method (FIMM) for computationally and mathematically efficient modeling of solid structures. The approach is applicable to mult...

Multiscale Analysis of Transverse Cracking in Cross-Ply Laminated Beams Using the Layerwise Theory

A finite element model based on the layerwise theory is developed for the analysis of transverse cracking in cross-ply laminated beams. The numerical model is developed using the layerwise theory of Reddy, and the von Kármán type nonlinear strain field is adopted to accommodate the moderately large rotations of the beam. The finite element beam model is verified by comparing the present numeric...

Multiscale modeling of precipitate microstructure evolution.

We demonstrate how three "state-of-the-art" techniques may be combined to build a bridge between atomistics and microstructure: (1) first-principles calculations, (2) a mixed-space cluster expansion approach, and (3) the diffuse-interface phase-field model. The first two methods are used to construct the driving forces for a phase-field microstructural model of theta'- Al2Cu precipitates in Al:...

Uncertainty quantification in computational stochastic multiscale analysis of nonlinear elastic materials

This paper is devoted to a computational stochastic multiscale analysis of nonlinear structures made up of heterogeneous hyperelastic materials. At the microscale level, the nonlinear constitutive equation of the material is characterized by a stochastic potential for which a polynomial chaos representation is used. The geometry of the microstructure is random and characterized by a high number...

First Passage Statistics for the Capture of a Brownian Particle by a Structured Spherical Target with Multiple Surface Traps

We study the first passage time problem for a diffusing molecule in an enclosed region to hit a small spherical target whose surface contains many small absorbing traps. This study is motivated by two examples of cellular transport. The first is the intracellular process through which proteins transit from the cytosol to the interior of the nucleus through nuclear pore complexes that are distri...
